Culture in Bad Ischl
The Marmorschlössl in Bad Ischl has established itself as a venue for international contemporary art. Following impressive exhibitions by greats such as Erwin Wurm and Ai Weiwei, Jakob Lena Knebl is now continuing this tradition from 01.05. – 31.10.2026. In the immediate vicinity of the Hubertushof, she explores female role models such as the biblical Mary Magdalene or the Slavic legendary figure Baba Jaga.
Particularly exciting: while Knebl reinterprets the legendary hut of Baba Jaga in the outdoor area, she transforms the large salon inside into a surreal dream world. Works by her students are also presented on the upper floor.
Your art advantage: Thanks to its location right next to the Boutique Hotel Hubertushof, our hotel is the perfect starting point for your exhibition visit. – Either for an overnight stay or for refreshments before or after your visit to the exhibition.
Details about the exhibition can be found HERE.

Imperial stroll
K u. K culture in Bad Ischl
Around August 18, Bad Ischl is dedicated to the birthday of Emperor Franz Joseph I. Numerous festivities take place in the imperial town during this period to mark the occasion. Fixed points are always the arrival of the Imperial Train at the station, the Imperial Festival in the Kurpark on August 15 and the Imperial Mass on August 18.
With a lot of charm, a little nostalgia and a healthy pinch of ironic entertainment, the imperial city serves up a colorful cocktail of hospitable festive cheer around the emperor’s birthday.
Our recommendation
Celebrate the birthday of our former emperor with us.
150 years of Hubertushof
History in Bad Ischl
This year, Hubertushof will be 150 years old towards the end of the year. After the war, Georg and Elisabeth Panhuber took over the house, developed it into a small hotel and inn and finally handed over the hotel and inn to Anna and Hans Panhuber towards the end of the 1970s. In the last quarter of the 20th century, they developed and expanded it into a 33-room hotel with spa, sauna, inn and café. Finally, on 1.5. In 2019, Elisabeth and Ernst Strasser took over the hotel, used the pandemic to modernize the rooms and guest rooms and developed it into today’s “Boutiquehotel Hubertushof Bad Ischl” with 4 stars, 87 Falstaff hotel points and 1 Fallstaff fork for the hotel.

Advent magic
Advent magic in Bad Ischl
The aroma of roasted chestnuts, the softly sugared sidewalks in the Christmas-decorated streets, the Advent and craft market in the Trinkhalle, peaceful, relaxing Christmas days, contemplative nights of revelry – that’s Bad Ischl in December. Of course the wild fellows with their Perchten come around the Krampus and we all look forward to the traditional Glöcklerlauf on January 5th, in between we celebrate Christmas and New Year’s Eve. We look forward to seeing you.

Tobogganing
For the whole family
A winter vacation in the Salzkammergut is more than just skiing or snowboarding. Enjoy the idyllic nature in a completely different way – for example on a fast or leisurely toboggan ride. To get your adventure off to an uncomplicated start, toboggans are available to borrow at low cost or even free of charge. And what would an ascent in the snow be without the crowning glory? Stop off at one of the cozy ski huts before your descent and indulge in culinary delights in a rustic atmosphere.
A special highlight is moonlight tobogganing on the Loser, which takes place several times a season.
